A one day event to produce a freely accessible web and mobile based tool (or set of tools) for the direct benefit of the public. The event will run from early morning to late evening and will be followed with much drink and good cheer.
Why does this event exist?
We feel that there’s a huge amount of unsung talent in and around the area, this is a great opportunity to showcase that talent through a collaborative effort, which will benefit everyone.
Where is the Hack Day being held?
The MK Hack Day will take place at The Buszy on 5th May. The day starts between 8-9am (to get setup and settled etc) and runs right through to about 10pm.
How is the project chosen?
Three projects will be chosen and put up for attendee voting close to the time of the event. The project chosen will be cross-media and involve the whole group. Ideally the project we choose will be a tool or service to directly benefit the general public.
Can I submit a project?
If you have any ideas for projects that you’d like to share with us we have a cut off date for project idea submissions, which is April 20th 2012. Please send your ideas to us by email at email@example.com or contact us via Twitter or Facebook
What does it cost to attend?
It costs NOTHING, if you’d like to join us then you’re more than welcome. All that we ask is that you’re serious about contributing. It’s only one day but it will be a long day of intense, exciting work. Food isn’t supplied but there will be plentiful tea and coffee (on a donation basis). If you think you’re up to the task and you fulfill any of the roles we have listed below then please apply to take part.
Who should attend?
We’re looking for anyone with skills in the areas listed below. If that’s you then apply now to attend MK’s first Hack Day now!
Digital Project Managers
Social Engagement / Communities Management
Ninjas, Rockstars, Wizards &/or Gurus need not apply ;)
If you think you have skills to offer but you don’t come under any of the above, please let us know what you can do and how you can help.
We’ve setup the event on Facebook so register your attendance and come say hi. We'd love to hear about your skills and how you can contribute to the day, plus we'll keep you up to date with the latest news.
We’re currently looking to take on local sponsors for this event. If this is your organisation or you think you know someone that would like to sponsor this event then get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org
